HAVASU HEAT 2007 NATIONAL CHAMPS!
The 2006 Champion and Runner-Up gave the Heat their closest games of the tournament. Havasu came from behind in the top of the ninth inning to defeat the Derby (KS) Twins by a score of 6-4 (12 Innings); then the next night defeated the defending champion, the Santa Barbara (CA) Foresters, by a score of 7-6. The Hays (KS) Larks were no match for the powerhouse offense that was the Havasu Heat. The Heat scored a run in the first six innings of the championship game and went on to defeat the Larks for the second time in six days, 14-2. The Havasu (AZ) Heat went undefeated to win
the 73rd Annual NBC World Series Championship and became the first team from Arizona to
win the tournament. The Heat was an offensive juggernaut throughout the tournament,
leading all teams with a .345 Batting Average and cranking out 11 Home Runs, more than
doubling the previous team high of five. Havasu outscored its seven tournament
opponents by a score of 71-20 with 40 of those runs coming in the first four innings of
their games.

When the Heat returned from Wichita with an 4th overall national ranking and the most popular team of the series plaque awarded by the N.B.C.The Havasu Heat was awarded a key to the city by Melanie Hanack, (the mayor of Lake Havasu), who officially proclaimed Aug. 9th as Havasu Heat day.
